Academic Foundation Posts
LNR and Trent Foundation Schools act as one Unit of Application (East Midlands) for the purpose of academic foundation programme applications.  There are 54 posts available, across research, education and leadership themes.  12 of the posts are in Trent, and the other 42 are within Leicester, Northamptonshire and Rutland.

Details of the programmes offered can be found here.  The themes offered are Paediatrics, Clinical Leadership, Clinical Educators, Clinical Academic Medicine, Clinical Renal Medicine/Urology/Histopathology, Translational Medicine Research, Research Medicine/Surgery, Perioperative Care and General Practice.

The format of the programmes varies; some may be 3 x 4 months in F2, whilst others may be 2 x 6 month placements (with 80% clinical and 20% academic time).  There are regular joint academic meetings for all academic trainees.

Interviews are Wednesday 21st November - Friday 23rd November 2012.  In the past, the interview has been in an OSCE style.
Medical Education Posts
There are 18 medical education posts available within the East Midlands Unit of Application, though they are actually in Leicester, not Trent.  It is is split between the University of Leicester Medical School and Emergency Medicine (as the F2 clinical programme).  Trainees are involved in the preclinical teaching at Leicester and there is an opportunity for a research project.
