Appointment to F2 Programmes
Most trainees are allocated to a two-year programme, either with both years within the same Trust, or each year in a different Trust. A small proportion of trainees will be allocated to a 1-year programme and their F2 programme is confirmed at a later date in F1. These trainees will need to rank their F2 programmes by preference and attend an interview. F2 programme allocation is based on the interview score and the trainee's preferences. More details about the process can be found here.

Overseas training is possible in F2, but can only be undertaken in Australia or New Zealand. 8 trainees may be granted permission to train abroad for F2. If more than 8 trainees apply, the decision is based upon a personal statement submitted by each trainee and a reference from their current Foundation Programme Director. More information can be found here.
